Help & FAQ

Need help with a pattern? A purchase? A download? Have a yarny question? Chances are, you're not alone so here is where you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions. If your question isn't answered here, this post may help.

Books Help

  • Where can I find out about your books?

Clicking on the book you're interested in in my shop will show a full description of the book and what is in it.

Or you can head to this page on my blog to read about them all.

  • I'm not in Australia. Can I still order your books?

Indeed you can! I just won't be the one you order from as postage time and costs would be ridiculous for you. Search your local favourite online book reatiler for my name or the title of the book you want.

They are all availale all over the world from places like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Booktipia etc.

  • I think I found a mistake in a book

As much as I'd like to think I and my team are perfect, we're not. The odd oops has on occassion snuck in. As they are noticed, changes are made to the digital edition and manuscript for future printing. Downloading your digital version again will be the most recent version.

If major changes that affect the ability of a pattern being made, details are added to an errata page for each book. Please note that as corrections are made when found, your version may indeed be the latest version and these errata notes will be irrelevant.

You can find the errata pages here:

    Granny Square Flair

    Siren's Atlas

    Granny Square Academy

    Granny Square Patchwork.

If you beleive there is an error not noted on these pages, please get in touch so I can amend things.

Pattern Help

  • I don't understand how your pattern is written. Can you please explain it?

Sure! There are so many formats for crochet patterns, it can be hard going from one designer’s patterns to another. I have written a blog post all about how and why I write my patterns like it do. You can read it here.

Pattern Purchase/Download Issues

  • I ordered a pattern, but I haven't received an email to download it.

You can access your download from the order confirmation page, the order confirmation email and also your account if you have one.  Please check your spam folder if you need the email. If you used Paypal to purchase, check your Paypal email address for the order email. If you still can’t find it, email me with your order details and we’ll sort it out. No drama.

  • I accidentally ordered the wrong terminology. I need UK/US.

If it was a free pattern, simply go back to the store and add the correct terms version to your cart and go from there.

If it was a paid pattern, email me and we'll sort it out.

General Crochet Help

  • I have never heard of *that* stitch or technique. Can you explain what it is please?

Sure! Head over to my YouTube channel where you'll find short, quick, no mucking about instructional videos on most stitches and techniques in the Stitch and Technique Tutorials playlist.

If what you need help with isn't covered there, email me and I'll help you out.

  • How much yarn do I need for...?

Well, the answer to that depends on many things! So, head over to my blog post where I tell you how to work out how much yarn you need to make your project.

If you are making one of my blanket patterns, all the yarn requirements are listed in the patterns.

  • How do I join my squares?

There are so many options when it comes to how to join your squares. I have written about a few of the common ones in this blog post. Or you can check out this YouTube video showing how I like to join most often.

Pattern Shop FAQ

  • What is for sale in your shop?

Most products in my Pattern Shop are digital files in PDF format. Aussies and Kiwis can also order my books in physical form from my shop.

You will find blankets, ebooks of multiple patterns, bags, scarves and cowls, free patterns and other assorted crochet patterns.

There are patterns aimed at all levels of crochet experience from beginners to more challenging patterns for advanced crocheters.

  • How do I pay for my order? Do I have to use Paypal?

Add all the patterns you want to your cart.

View your cart to proceed to checkout.

You can choose Paypal to be taken to your Paypal account. Or you can choose Checkout, where you can pay with your credit card, google pay, apple pay or shop pay. You have the choice here to set up an account for my shop to save time entering information for subsequent orders.

If you have a discount code, you will be able to apply it at the final order confirmation page.

  • Why do I have to enter my email address, even for a free pattern?

Well, if I ever update a pattern, for whatever reason, you will automatically be emailed the new update. Cool huh? This is the same if it’s a free or paid pattern.

  • How do I get my order and save the pattern to my device?

The order confirmation page has a link to download your pattern. The same link is also in your order confirmation email and can be accessed in your account if you have one.

What happens when you click on download will vary depending on your device.

The file will either download straight to your device folders – mine go to a “downloads” folder – or open in a new browser window.

If it opens in a new browser window, you will need to save it manually to your device.

For windows systems, that may mean clicking the downward arrow on the top right of the file preview.

For apple devices, you will need to hit the share icon and save it to books. Check your device help if you’re not sure how to save a PDF.

Please check your spam folder if you don’t see the email within a few minutes of ordering and contact me if you don’t have it.

  • Can I sell items made using your patterns?

Sure! You can sell your finished items, but please include a link or reference to me as the designer. A note to say Pattern by Shelley Husband is fine. Thank you.

  • Will I get an update if you change a pattern in some way?

Yes! If I ever need to make a change to a pattern, you will be emailed a link to download the latest version.

  • What do I do if there is a problem with my order?

Contact me by emailing me and I’ll help you out. I’ll get back to you within 24 hours. If it’s a technical issue, please provide me with as much information as you can – screenshots are great – so I can get to the bottom of your issue for you.

  • Refunds and Exchanges

There are no refunds for digital products. If a book arrives damaged, please contact me and we’ll sort it out.

If you have a problem getting your order, please contact me and I will help you.

If you accidentally purchased the UK version of a pattern instead of the US version (or vice versa), contact me and we’ll sort it out. That’s easy to fix and no bother at all.

  • Why am I only allowed to download my pattern 10x times?

The download is limited to 10x attempts to prevent the illegal sharing of download links. Please do let me know if you have issues though as I understand things happen like internet dropping out mid download. I can reset it for you no drama.

App Help

  • Where can I find your app?

My app is available in Google Play and the Apple App store. You can read more about the Shelley Husband Crochet App here.

  • Can I access my account and download patterns from the app?

I want to reward you for supporting me and so I have set up a rewards system where you can earn "Pattern Points" each time you make a purchase.

You will earn 5 Pattern Points for every dollar you spend.

  • How do I join your rewards program?

Click the link in the gift card email to start shopping. Redeem the value of a gift card by entering its unique code at checkout. This code isn't case sensitive.
