A simple looking, but interestingly constructed granny square pattern made into a lovely warming cowl. Perfect for intermediate or advanced beginners wanting a bit to think about, with lots of support included in the pattern.
Originally designed for the Crochet Tournament 2021, run by Crochet Australia. Now the tournament is over, I can share the pattern with you! I hope you enjoy it. Other patterns for the tournament were designed by Emily Penn of The Loopy Stitch and Joy Clements of Crochet Road.
The pattern includes;
- a written pattern (you choose UK or US terms), written for 2 colours,
- a chart,
- an abbreviations list of all stitches and techniques used
- extensive, very detailed help with close up and round by round photos
- a link to video showing all rounds, including mirrored videos for left-handed folks

Square size: 18 cm/7”
Cowl dimensions: 18.5 cm/7.25” deep, 74 cm/29” around
You will need:
Yarn used in sample: Fibra Natura Papyrus, 50g/120 m
C1: 2 balls Neutral Background colour (229-02 used for sample. Approx. 30g left over.),
C2: 1 ball Flower colour (229-08 used for sample. Approx. 9g left over.)
Yarn Used in sample: Fibra Natura Papyrus, an 8 ply/DK/light fingering yarn that is 2.4 metres/2.6 yards per gram
Hook: 4.5 mm
