The Pretender Granny Square Pattern

I designed this pattern when composing a blog post explaining how you almost never have to do starting chains - you know the traditional chain 3 at the start of rounds?  Well it's not just regular stitches you can replace with false stitches.

Have a read of the post here if you want to learn a bit more about seamless crochet.

And then use The Pretender pattern to practice!  Winning all round.

Square size

My versions of The Pretender are 9” across.

You will need:

You can use any yarn of any weight and fibre, and the appropriate hook size. Matching gauge is not important.

I used:

Yarn: 8 ply cotton

Hook: 5 mm
