These patterns are part of The Bendigo Project, 2026 and will be published on Saturday 28th of March 2026.

The theme for The Bendigo Project in 2026 is Texture & Twist, a delightful exploration of knit and crochet textured stitch patterns and cables.

The Bendigo Project Knitalong will commence on Saturday 28th of  March at 7.30pm via Zoom, and will conclude with a meet up at The Australian Sheep and Wool Show, in Bendigo, Saturday July 18th 2026.

The Crimp Cowls highlight the tactile surface of wool in granny square form, creating accessories that celebrate the structure of wool. Inspired by the natural waviness of wool fibres, the Crimp granny square design embraces this year’s theme of Texture & Twist. 

Two projects are included in this pattern; The Short Crimp Cowl and The Long Crimp Cowl. Yarn kits are available from Louie and Lola Yarns here. 

Short Crimp Cowl

The Short Crimp Cowl is your one skein wonder. A snug, close fitting cowl to really keep you warm on those cold, windy, wintery days. 

Wear the cowl with the point at the back under a jacket for a super warm neck.

Sizing and fit
One size. This is a snug fitting cowl.

19 cm/7.5 in deep
48 cm/19 in inner edge
84 cm/33 in outer edge
25 cm/10 in dip to point

Yarn
Louie and Lola Yarns, 8 ply /DK yarn (80% merino, 20% possum, 248 m/ 271 y per 100g) - 1 skein

You will use close to one entire skein. If you crochet loosely, you may need a little more. 

Long Crimp Cowl

The Long Crimp Cowl is a looser fitting, lighter-weight option, designed for two colour play. Great for using minis! 

Wear the cowl with the point at the back under a jacket for a super warm neck.

One size. This is a loose fitting cowl.

Louie and Lola Yarns, 8 ply /fingering yarn (60% superwash merino, 20% silk, 20% yak) 212 m/231 y per 100g
